Things You Should Know

In Maine it is required for every angler over 16 years old to have a valid Maine fishing license, that license can be purchased here, it is not required to print the license. You only need to have the email confirmation from the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and I recommend saving a screenshot of the license to make it quicker if we should happen to get checked by a game warden. I also recommend that anyone over 16 get a fishing license even if they don’t plan on participating in the fishing, they almost always end up participating in one way or another.

Just a couple notes about your license application, there are quite a few questions and it does take a little time to navigate through the application so please have it before the trip so we don’t have to use up valuable fishing time getting them online, AND, when you get your Maine license it will have a MOSES ID number on it, that number is your personal ID# now and can be used for purchasing licenses in Maine at any time in the future instead of having to fill out the application again, so if you plan on fishing or hunting in Maine again, store that number somewhere safe.

Kids under the age of 11 years old are required to wear life jackets on the boat at all times unless we are at anchor, I do have youth life jackets but if they have one you know they are comfortable in please bring it along.

By Maine law I cannot legally fillet or remove the head or tail or alter the length of trout, salmon and a few other species, I can clean out the insides though and happy to do it at the end of the trip and put them in bags for you to take home in.

I do have a cooler on each boat to keep fish in, but if you plan on taking fish home, you’ll want to bring one and leave it in your vehicle, I usually have some ice for you to take but if I don’t there are several places close to the marina to get some.

Alcohol is aloud on my boats, but if you’re looking to party and get drunk, I’m not your guide, I encourage everyone to relax and enjoy themselves with a few beers or a bottle of wine, but I reserve the right to end the trip if a client gets out of hand without a refund.

Any form of drugs including marijuana/CBD is strictly forbidden on my boats, as a US Coast Guard licensed captain, I am subject to federal laws and am at risk of losing that license if they are found on my boats.

As a Registered Maine Guide, we are considered an extension of the Maine Warden Service, and we are held to a higher standard for following all fish and game laws in the state of Maine and to the best of my knowledge I strictly follow those laws.

Normally morning trips will start at 6AM and we will return to the dock between 11:00 and 12:00, the afternoon trips begin at 1:30 and we will return between 6:30 and 7:30. These times can be altered a bit and will change in the spring and fall depending on the sunrise and sunset times.
